There are lots of ways to redirect a domain name to another domain or subdomain and one of them is by setting up a CNAME record. When you own a domain and you've set up a site through some online service that provides you with a service subdomain, you can easily link the two by creating a CNAME record for your-domain.com that redirects to subdomain.provider.com. What you'll achieve in this way is that www.your-domain.com is going to be in the web browser address bar while it opens the already mentioned site from the servers of the third-party provider. It is important to know that if you create a CNAME record, any other records your domain address may have will stop functioning, so you can't have both a CNAME record pointing to one company and working email addresses with a different one. The CNAME record is always an alpha string, not a number, and sometimes further configuration may be necessary with the other company.
CNAME Records in Shared Web Hosting
In case you have a shared web hosting plan through our company and you want to create a CNAME record, it will take you a few mouse clicks to do it. You can access the DNS records for all domains and subdomains hosted within your account through the Hepsia Control Panel that comes with every single plan and adding a new record is as easy as clicking on a button, selecting the type, which is CNAME in this case, entering the actual record value and saving the modification. In case you have never added this type of record before, we have a Help section with a detailed video tutorial that you can watch, or you can simply contact us and we'll aid you with this task. If you have built an Internet site via another company, you want to use a private URL for your webmail or you want to designate a subdomain for use with the services of a different company, like Google Apps, all it takes is creating a CNAME record with a couple of mouse clicks within your Control Panel.
CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
You're going to be able to set up, modify and delete CNAME records easily with any of our semi-dedicated server plans. The accounts are managed from the custom Hepsia hosting Control Panel, and in one of its sections you'll see all records for any domain or subdomain which you have added in your account. To create a new record, you just need to choose the hostname that'll be forwarded (domain/subdomain), input where it will be forwarded to, select the record type, that will be CNAME in this case, and you'll be all set. Even when you haven't used a web hosting service before, our Control Panel is quite intuitive to use, so you will not have any problems. We also have a short video and a detailed help article on how to create a CNAME record, both of which are located in the exact same section of Hepsia. With this function, you could easily use a domain name hosted on our revolutionary cloud hosting platform for a site created elsewhere, create a custom webmail login address with any of your domain addresses, plus much more.
